I bought this book to help me with my primary statement for my medical school application. This was my second time applying and while I felt there were some other things wrong with my first application, I believe my primary statement the first time around really did not set me apart. I have a mediocre/low GPA, pretty good MCAT score, but lots of life experience and extracurricular activities so I felt the primary statement was my best bet to really show medical schools who I am. I must have written a pretty good essay because I received 5 interview invitations within the first 2 months after submitting my primary and was recently accepted into one of my top choice medical schools.The first couple of chapters of this book address what medical schools are looking for in an essay and how to make your own life story come across in the primary statement. It helps you organize your thoughts and experiences, guiding you through structuring an essay that show some real emotion. I found that working through the brainstorming activities was key in developing my essay and I strongly suggest that everyone why buys this book does so as well. The final parts of the book are example essays of past admitted medical students. This is where I think the book is a little lacking. Most of the essays are from students who were accepted into Yale, Harvard, Johns Hopkins...you get the picture. Obviously the other parts of the applications for these students, such as MCAT and GPA, must have been very outstanding as well. I believe that most of these students would have been accepted into medical school regardless of their primary statement. Even though many essays described experiences that the average applicant cannot relate to, I believe the thought process highlighted of why these experiences make the student a good candidate for becoming a doctor were the real key here. I found many hidden gems and inspirations among some of the essays and they allowed me to see how a successful essay should be structured.I believe this book was they key why I was so incredibly successful in my application process and I highly recommend it to anyone working on their application to medical school!

This was very helpful in writing my personal statement. There was good advice on how to prepare writing and I liked the in depth review of the different essays. It was probably my favorite of the tools I used to prepare

I am a pre-medicine student at a university who is preparing to apply to medical school and this book is really helpful with writing the notorious personal statement. It gives many sample essays that were written by actual people who got into medical school and it lists the strengths and weaknesses of the essays. The first few chapters are a walk-through on brainstorming and writing your personal statement. This book also includes tips for the even more notorious med school interview session that you will be expected to attend should you get your foot in the door.

Pretty much everything you would already know if you do any internet search. Not worth the investment unless you're really struggling.

i like this essay guide better than the other popular one that is similar to this but made by princeton or someone like that. includes similar tips to other essay guides but this includes essays with critiques showing why it was a good or bad essay and how each essay can be improved.

This book is a perfect guide for writing higher level essays to prepare me for a medical program. I love how clear the directions are and the examples are very clear and concise.

Advice is good and fairly concise. Provides 38 useful personal statements.

I really liked this book. The main reason, Wayne Stinnett is a masterful storyteller. The book is not without it's flaws and some of those flaws are due to my perception. And I will mention those flaws first, the book was too short, second the ending was rushed and third, I found it hard to believed that a seasoned operative would be deceived as he was at the bar, it just did seem out of character for him. All that being said, the story still hangs tight and is truly enjoyable as the story progressed. I have been reading Mr. Stinnett since the first book in the McDermitt series as well as the first book in the Styles series. I find that most of novels under 300 pages are really too short, not all but most. To me, his style works better with the longer length and generally speaking the ending does not seem rushed at this length.The reason I gave this novel 5 stars instead of 4 is that plain and simple, it is a very good read. Lots of action, lots of information, lot of character exploring/revealing and is in the category of "just one more chapter"! Five stars to me means I would really recommend this book,I might very well read it again and would have it in my permanent library.

I’ve read all Wayne’s books in this series (Jesse and Charity books) and they honestly keep getting better. Wayne is an excellent author and the cast of characters he has created throughout this series are so enjoyable to be around and they have such amazing adventures all within the beautiful setting of the Keys and the Caribbean that I hate when the story ends. But the other great thing is Wayne has been consistent with putting out a couple books a year to keep me happy! If you love the island vibes and good spy/caper adventures then you’ll love this series!!

The only real bad thing about any of Wayne Stinnett's books is the wait for the next one. Enduring Charity, another very good book by the master of Caribbean adventure. The author is gradually taking a different tact with his characters, and with his Charity Styles character probably the biggest of all, although I think he's just now introducing the real Charity, after several iterations of her as some Lara Croft fantasy character. Very enjoyable book, especially if a couple of hard to believe coincidences are over looked in the first couple of chapters. The story did have a nice flow to it and like all of Wayne Stinnett's books each story has a beginning, middle and end. Although the ending of this one certainly opens up possibilities for future books. Highly recommend this one, as I do all of his books. Just really good stories.

I think this is the best of the Charity books yet. Wayne Stinnett really dialed in on the character and fleshed her out. Plus this story was a page turner the action kept going and ramping up. Good twists and when I thought where it was going it changed. Charity is reunited with Jesse and some team members and I think that works well because I see the group as a family. My only minor quibble is I thought the conclusion was a bit rushed, but that may be because I didn't want it to end.

I am an unabashed Wayne Stinnett fan and purchased all of the Jesse McDermitt and Charity Styles books and the audio books too when available. I listen to his stories when mowing the lawn or on long drives and the time goes so much faster. I purchased Enduring Charity the day it was available but resisted listening to it until yesterday, sort of like saving a fine wine for a special occasion. Well there was no special occasion yesterday but I could no longer resist so binged and listened to the whole story in one sitting. The narrator can make or break a good story but Nick Sullivan brings this story to life as he has done for all of Wayne's books. I found it interesting to see how Charity evolved from "cold blooded assassin" in the first book in the series to an emerging emotional woman enabling other women the chance to change their futures. The last sentence in the book, "Yeah", Charity thought. "This is going to be a challenge" sure is a good lead-in for the next Charity Styles book.

As expected I loved Wayne's new Charity Styles novel in the Caribbean Thriller Series. I wish Wayne would writer faster, and I would read slower as his novels, with Charity and the series with Jesse, always thrill and entertain. I'm a writer. I know that it takes a lot of time . . . but I can't wait for August and the next book. And I am terribly jealous and covetous of SV Wind Dancer. I am a wooden sailboat aficionado, and this old vessel with all of the state-of-the-art gadgetry makes me drool. Thanks again, Wayne, for a wonderful read. Semper Fi from a dogfaced puddle pirate.

There is no point in taking too many words to express my disappointment in this book. Disappointment is a mild word to use at my express disappointment that this excellent writing did not last but a few hours. I can only say I wish it had been three times as long so the excitement, nail biting and the absolute exhilaration at the end could have lasted a little bit longer. I can hardly wait for the next one to come out. I already have it on preorder. I saved this book like you save a fine bottle of wine—to be enjoyed on a calm day so your imagination can put you on the deck of the aptly named Revenge!! How sweet it is—the book I mean!! LOL!! Each page makes you giddy with excitement. Hurry up book #5!!

What can I say? Wayne has done it again. Charity has become one of my favorite characters in any book series I have read, a long with the Stella Cole character by Andy Maslen.Others have given the basic premise of the story, so I won't bore you with another. All I can say is, if you haven't read any of the Charity books by Mr. Stinnett, you have missed out on a great adventure. I've read every book by Wayne and love them all, but for some reason, I really look forward to the next Charity adventure.Thanks Wayne for bringing so many wonderful characters into our lives.
