First of all, it's undeniable that this workbook is aesthetically pleasing. For someone who loves a pretty planner to feel more on top of your life, think of You Goal, Girl (and its companion Common Cents) as an essential extension of your planner. Your planner contains your schedule; your goal setting workbook contains your goals and the progress you've made towards them. I'm SUPER type A so I really appreciate everything having its place; structure helps keep my brain organized.But even better: it's more than JUST a blank workbook. The authors give consistently good advice for working towards and achieving your goals throughout the entire book. So if you run out of steam or motivation or hit a rough patch in the year, it's as simple as turning the page and reading their words of wisdom to get you back on track.I also love how the whole book is undated -- so even though it could ideally be used throughout an entire year for multiple goals at the same time, it could also be used periodically on and off as you are working towards different, big goals throughout your life.This book makes you excited to set goals, motivated to start them, and encourages you to reward yourself for both big and small victories. It is great for anyone: young or old, students or professionals, man or woman.

Need a goal setting planner that is both beautifully designed and totally practical? The authors have created a fun, engaging, and incredibly helpful goal setting book that will certainly appeal to young women who are building their best lives. I am not sure what my favorite parts are--the down-to-earth tone or well-designed workbook pages. The authors break down the goal setting process in easy-to-complete steps that get at the heart of what the reader needs to do to achieve their goals. I especially like the Habit Tracker pages because, as I know from teaching first-year college students, setting goals is not enough to achieve them. You have to build in daily habits that help you succeed. I started working on my gratitude log first because I loved the concept of recording something I am thankful for each day of the month and it helped me focus on what I really want to achieve. While I personally love using the workbook, I can also see how it would appeal to my college students as well.

I purchased this as a gift for a young professional. One of my greatest mentors always taught me to never confuse effort with results. While this book isn’t as blunt as my mentor, I felt it did a great job of helping someone learn how to focus their energy to accomplish their goals. The workbook process of breaking down your goals into manageable action items to help guide you through what it takes to accomplish your goals is extremely helpful. This is a fantastic book for young adults!

This book was one of the most useful books I’ve owned. This is a book you don’t just read once. You will reference it and build from it. Very well done. I wish I had a book like this years ago.

I purchased two copies of this book (along with their book on Budgeting) for my 20-something daughters. I found both books to be very well written and excellent resources for young adults still learning about goal setting and budgeting as they mature into adulthood.

I received an early review copy of this book and was surprised a little by the format. There is no shortage of books and resources out there to inspire us to be better people, and there are tons of books that allow you to plan your year and stay on top of your schedule, but this book surprised me in how it fills an important gap - how to get where you want to go.Growing up, you have a sense of who you want to be, like a picture of your future self at work, or out at a nice restaurant with friends, but especially in a job market where people are expected to frequently change professions, how you go about getting to become a person who is personally and professionally satisfied is far from straight forward unless you pursue a specific academic track.You Goal Girl is set up not as a passive reading experience to inspire you, but as a practical exercise that you go through to provide some structure and process. The idea is that if you go through the steps in YGG, you will be able to better achieve your goals by setting them more concretely then laying out the specific steps you need to begin taking. In my experience many people that have vague ideas about what they want end up wallowing in regret that they could have done something more. This book is made to prevent that. It forces you to- Write down your goals.- Prioritize your goals.- Build a plan to achieve each of those goals over time (not immediately)- Structure your time so that you use it better and appreciate downtime more.- Take time to be grateful for what you have achieved.- Continually reevaluate your progress.Superficially this is all intuitive, but it's surprising how much help we all need to stay focused in a world that is so filled with distracting things. You Goal Girl provides process I wish I had used when I was younger, as it would have removed a lot of the anxiety I had about the uncertainty of the future, and leavened some of my endless optimism with practical advice about the things that can end up going wrong.YGG is a great a great workbook and process for women (or men for that matter) who are seeking to improve themselves and achieve long term goals. This book is strictly multiple choice test questions, no explanations for students to work through on their own. The QR codes that accompany each week's questions are supposed to explain each item, but I couldn't even watch past week 1 day 1 due to the narrator incorrectly reading numbers. He uses the word 'and' when he gets to a comma which makes him sound incompetent as a math guide. It also goes so fast that a child would constantly have to back up and listen again.

I was browsing for extra practice for my 5th grader. I was looking for something different from homework from school,something challenging, something like not new separate curriculum and not too expensive.Just before i so similar but old book in our public library and viola! I found this one! The book has 2 parts. Also you can use video explanation, if you need.Each page of the book has tasks for the day and tips and 5th day of the week has an assessment. Also there is a huge assessment at the end of the book. There are answers at the end as well(relief for doubtful and busy parents).The book 1 has an multiple choice and part 2 has free response. You could choose either one or combine both parts for better result.It is good for homeschooling, with online-video explanation it covers everything. It is not easy, on some questions you have to think twice, it is good for brain storm.

About one month ago I ordered four math books published by Argo Brothers Publishing – Math 3rd Grade Common Core Workbook (Part 1 and Part 2), and Math 5th Grade Common Core Workbook (Part 1 and Part 2). Being a Math Tutor I always check different additional sources to help my students to be successful on the tests, especially based on Common Core. Usually I search Internet looking for Test Preparation information, and then compiling worksheets for different topics. It is hard work, because there is a lot of outdated information with different point of view on the same subject. I found almost everything I need in those books! Part 1 has a hundreds multiple choice questions which cover different topics, and Part 2 requires writing answers, which is much harder, and makes a student to analyze, and formulate his answer in proper way. Guessing doesn’t work! All the books are well structured based by days and weeks, which can help with the planning of studying. I started to utilize those books in my tutoring process, and I’m very happy with the result – it saves my time and effort, and I have big source of worksheets wit the answer keys in one place! I would recommend those books to parents of my students as a perfect guide to be successful on Common Core exams. I’d like to order the book Math 7th Grade Common Core Workbook (Part 1 and Part 2) in near future.

I recommend this book for practice problems and getting prepared for common core math. The layout is very convenient and organized for daily math solving problems. I am finding the book very useful in understanding concepts needed for passing the common core exam. There are problems provided for each day for 5 days a week, and answers are provided at the end of the book. A very useful feature is the "Tip of the day" which provides a sentence or two on vital concepts for solving problems. I highly recommend this book for any 5th grader who needs the extra practice to succeed.

I recommend this book (Argo Brothers Common Core Math Workbook Multiple Choice, 5th grade) for regular math practice and to help prepare for the common core tests. It provides 5-6 questions per page, which is a good amount for eveyday practice, and the contents are well-organized and easy to follow. In my opinion, you need to solve many math problems to master math and this workbook allows a lot of practice for problems that my sons are learning in school. I also bought a “Free Response” workbook also from Argo Brothers, so that they can practice different types of math problems.

I definitely recommend this book (Part I: Multiple Choice) and Part II: Free Response for daily math practice. They are well organized and provide fairly large number of exercises, which is important for successful learning. These books serve me as a very good companion for school curriculum.

My daughter is in 5th grade and advanced in math, however in project based school they either have different subject order or even omit subjects. So far we really enjoy this book, it allows my bilingual to practice written (paragraph) questions, make sure all 5th grade subjects are covered and it really shows problem areas and already mastered ones.

I use this book to tutor students in math. I like the format, where the lessons are divided weekly into five days. There are Assessment problems at the end of each week's lesson and the subsequent lessons include review from previous weeks. I'd recommend pairing this with the Free Response book, but be aware that some questions are recycled. Argo brothers did not even bother changing the numbers/diagrams on some problems.

This is recipe book, rather than a "how to throw a tea party" book. It is Gorgeous--beautiful photos in soft pastels, with opposite very nicely laid out recipes. Unlike many other 'tea' recipe books I looked at, this one has ingredients that I have actually heard of and could easily find at most grocery stores, with measurments in both cups and grams. It covers sandwiches, scones, friands, little tarts and cakes, big cakes biscuits (aka cookies by us Americans), and 'slices' (like pan cookies). I haven't made a single one yet, but I still enjoy reading and looking at the book (makes my my mouth water just to look at all these delicate things.) If you ever wanted to feel like Downton's Lady Mary or the Dowager--or have your own fancy little tea party--get this book and soak up the gorgeousness and goodness of these recipes.

This book is really great if you like more sweets with your afternoon tea. It does have a tea sandwich section but that is pretty small. The cake and cookie section are the largest parts in this book. The recipes have lovely pictures on them and very detailed instructions. All of the recipes are simple with details on how to store them. Very good for someone with beginners knowledge on what to make for afternoon tea.

I love this book. It has lots of well composed and beautiful photos of finger sandwiches, scones, cakes and other tea time delights. If you want to have a traditional tea time with friends this is the go to book for sure. I can't wait to make some of the delicacies, savory and sweet. A great price for such a delightful, informative book.

Simply looking at the photos is enough to make your mouth water and reading the descriptions only adds to this! Most of the recipes use very few ingredients, and do not seem to difficult. Can't wait to get started!

This book has opened doors for fancy pastries I never thought a novice house baker can accomplish. I did need to Google some vocabulary that isn't common in America like it is in England/Australia. There are challenging recipes, but only because some recipes call for equipment I don't have (like certain pans). I've purchased most, and I'm feeling good about my collection.The tarts are fantastic!

Purchased as a gift for a friend who enjoys Afternoon Tea and cooking, especially making sweets. This book contains many recipes that are mostly not too difficult but sound divine. Clear directions, excellent photographs.

Absolutely charming book with a charming collection of recipes and pictures for every recipe. I love this book. It looks gorgeous on a pretty coffee table or side table as well. I have made a couple of recipes and both were good.

Incredibly well written and Interesting history of the Western railroads and the Western Expansion they fueled. Filled with greedy developers, financial schemes, crooked politicians and graft at all levels. It also tells the story of the railroad workers, train robbers, Indians, immigrants, farmers, the National Grange, and a host of others effected by the Expansion West. Â Some reviewers criticized what they considered a failure to go into enough detail. I disagree. Entire books could be written on each of the railroads and the financial wizards or sometimes conmen that funded them. This book paints the broad view of 19th century railroad development, how they were funded, and how they drove the Westward Expansion movement. Brown keeps it readable and the book is complete in its own right, but could also trigger more study of the specific railroads, individuals or topics discussed.

The Good: Of course, well written. The man knew how to write. Very interesting look at different aspects of railroads that you might not think about but gave insight into not only how they worked, but also some of the social mores is the day -- like for instance, the roles of different people who provided services on the trains. Found myself understanding settlement in the West somewhat differently.The not so good. This book could use many more maps! How can you write about such a geography driven book (at least, the first half and have so few maps?) I mean, it's not like the names of towns along the route are household names and where they were in relation to the typography is hugely important to the story. Found it annoying that I had to find my own maps. Had it not been for Google Maps, probably would have bailed on the book. Could have done without the editorializing about modern rail failings. Kind of gratuitous, as if the complexities of transportation in the 21st Century are explained by the robber barons of the 19th Century.

Dee Brown tells the fascinating story of railroads in the United States. There is lots of information about the incredible challenges of the construction of our rail system. There is interesting information about the stiff resistance to railroads by riverboat companies who wanted to retain a sort of monopoly on transportation. There are also lots of uncomfortable details about the "robber barons", and governmental corruption (at the highest levels!) that helped these scoundrels bilk the American public to the extent that still today the financial heirs of these robber barons control the corridors that the public funded.Sadly the Kindle edition of the book is plagued with typos that seem to step from a scanning/OCR process that was not followed by adequate proof reading. A shame, because it is so much easier to carry multiple books around on an Adroid Tablet when traveling than the print editions.Well, although several of these typos caused perplexing confusion, most could be overcome.Buy this book and read it!

I thought I was purchasing a book about the transcontinental railroad and I was less than 1/3 of the way through with this book and the story of the transcontinental railroad was complete. The remainder of the book was a history of the railroads throughout the US and how the railroads, with the help of politicians, were able to hoodwink the public into paying for the railroads over and over again and give away a good portion of this country in the process. It was still a good book and I learned quite a lot about the railroad industry I did not know.

I am a history buff and I enjoyed reading this book. It was easy to read and entertaining but also presented all of the historical details of the development of America's rail network as it expanded from the Mid West to the Pacific Coast. Clearly the author spent an incredible amount of time and energy researching the background behind all of the "mini stories" that woven together make up this epic tale of railway building. The book is nicely structured and one chapter flows nicely into the next. This is a fine book for anyone interested in history of the development of railway transportation in the US or anyone interested in US history in general.

This is a fairly interesting book. It doesn't add anything new to the transcontinental story but it does get into detail of peoples reaction to their first ride across the country. It discusses how the Feeding of the passengers and the pullman cars. If you want a book on just the transcontinental building, buy something else.If you want to learn about what went on after May 10, 1869 then this is a good book!
