I received this cute little Shark-Opedia Name that Shark- the Kindle Edition and read it the first night to my girlfriend’s daughter she is in love with animals. I found that when trying to read it on the tablet it would cut the photos in half at times. I even tried it on the computer I think that the overall book was not meant to be an e-book which is disappointing as the shark photos are quite beautiful. I think the children’s book is a great book and that it was done very well. The information that was provided was just perfect for a child to learn more fun facts about our animals under the sea.We still enjoyed the book even with the photos cut off; we even went so far as trying to figure out which tail belonged to which shark. (it was perfect she is only 4). The book contains about 50 pages of photos and information. The “Did you know?†was a nice bonus as it helped to give her (and me) an overall idea about each shark. It is a great little book to share with any animal lover. Generally, regardless of the photos cut off we went through this book so many times that I think I can recite it from memory.Disclaimer: I received this product at a discount in exchange for my fair and honest review. Do you watch Shark Week yourself or with kids? Do you find these creatures completely fascinating? Do you pretend your tortilla chip is a salsa shark? We do and couldn't resist a look at a Sharkopedia. The first thing you see is an adorable illustration of a shark that induced chuckling. Swipe to next page, there's an intimidating real shark and some squealing occurs.The book has super cool photos of different sharks and their names intermingled with interesting facts about sharks. First fact was frustrating because it ended with saying a number was lower than we likely imagined and then didn't give us the number! The rest of them didn't frustrate like that thankfully.Once when we were at an aquarium years ago there was an educator who did an insanely fun and funny fish puppet educational thing led by Hammy, the hammerhead shark. Instantaneously the hammerhead shark became our favorite shark and still is to this day. This book gives several other popular ones like the zebra and blacktip. There's a few sharks that don't have a picture-the tiger shark being one of them but there's a cool fact included about them. Overall this book is a lot of fun and definitely recommended. I did receive this at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review. At the time of this writing the Kindle edition is free-grab it! Great book. Just what you would expect: pictures of sharks, and text descriptions about sharks. Nothing really new from what other reviewers have written. Just one point: I like it when text is placed over photos. Not that this is always a good thing or necessary, but it makes me feel like I'm getting more content. The layout of this book, by making a double-page spread of one large photo, and then adding text over the water part, makes use of a larger photo and gives a child a larger photo of a shark to look at. (The didn't do this on all the pages for all the sharks, but there was a handful of instances of them.) Unfortunately, on a computer screen, or even the Kindle that I'm using, I can't view 2 pages at once. I need to really dig into the setting to clarify this, but unfortunately, I can't find a setting where I can view double pages. I would hope that this being sold by Amazon and that using an Amazon eBook I would have that option. I am hoping that they do that in the future.This book has 48 full color full page photos of sharks sharks sharks. Descriptions range from a sentence to a short paragraph. I think it would be appropriate reading for 1st-2nd graders or read to younger children. There are no violent photos in they book.I received this product at a free or discounted rate in exchange for an honest review.
