The first edition of this book, originally called simply "Chapter 29," was written in 1976. Since then there have been four additional editions and the book has been printed in five languages and read by thousands around the world. In 2012 the Lord put it on my heart to "revisit" the book and do a major rewrite, including more of my experiences as a friend of God and giving much greater insight into what it's really like to walk in the spirit. An additional chapter has been added called "The Years that Followed," describing the amazing things that have continued to happen in my life since my first encounter with the Lord. I am convinced that reading "Chapter 29 Revisited" can dramatically change your life and increase your faith to believe for the impossible.

I felt that a big part of what they were missing was the ability to be humble. To trust that God's way is the way to follow, not their own. People die young. Children die, too. It's part of God's plan for them, their families. God doesn't only answer with miracles. And deciding that he does is setting a dangerous precedent to those searching for comfort and answers in the wake of tragedy. The real Christian comes through tragedy more spiritual, not gaining faith because of miracles performed on command. I wish Jean the best and I hope over the years she has come to accept God's answers as supreme Truth, not her own wants and her need to be recognized as a tool. God loves her regardless of who she impresses. Look for miracles in quiet, somber times not just loud, earth shattering ones. They are more frequent and many times, so beautiful. In Jesus's name, God's will be done....not mine.

Inspiring, informative!This a truly an inspiring book for all who are Christians and all who strive to become Christians. Author Jean Coleman is a truly devout Christian and an important evangelist. She and her husband, Jack, have ministered the Word of God and won converts to Jesus for many years, not just in suburban America, but also in the backwaters of India and other countries, where they travel to preach regularly. This book provides Jean's story of how she, not a Christian at the time, was spoken to my God, brought into His fold, told that she would be His instrument in delivering the Word. Some say that the great evangelist, Billy Graham, had a similar communion with God and was called to international ministry.Since Jean was called, she has brought the Word to others and has even served as God's messenger when He has performed miracles. For example, she relates the story of a woman who announced to the congregation at a church that she had gone blind and that her doctor had told her that no more could be done. Following the sermon, Jean approached the woman, placed her thumbs on the woman's eyelids, and asked God to heal her. When she opened her eyes, she could once again see clearly - a true miracle. Don't believe in miracles? Well, read this book. Jean convincingly tell many stories of people God has helped, using her as His instrument. She also tells stories of conversions to Christ, in a very clear, informative way.One of the best things about this book is that it teaches Christianity. Jean gives a clear, detailed description of just how an ordinary person can come to believe in and accept Jesus as their savior and thereby gain entry to Heaven. Indeed, if you are a Christian or would consider being saved and becoming a Christian, you must read this book. You will be both inspired and informed, and perhaps Jean Coleman will have won yet another convert for Christ.

I just finished rereading Chapter 29 (Revisited), after having read the first edition many years ago. (I found this so engrossing that I read it from Kindle cover to cover in one sitting). I grew up in the same neighborhood as the Coleman's, so I remember much of what transpired, but through the lens of a much younger person. At that time, the transformation of Mr. and Mrs. Coleman seemed more of an oddity; the details and meaning of which were unknown and not understood. As I grew up and began to grow in my own sprituality I began to appreciate the personal relationship that each of us has with Jesus. It is rare one gets to open the door to their youth and relive events around them. Chapter 29 Revisited was a fascinating and inspiring retrospective witness of the people and times in my life and teaches the lesson the Jesus surrounds us, and we need only to open our hearts and souls to Christ to welcome him into our lives. Jean Coleman tells us in very personal detail how she found Jesus, and Jesus was there for her.

This was a fascinating book that was hard to put down. It’s written in a conversational style and the chapters are very short. In this book, Jean Coleman relays the story of her transformation from a Sunday church attendee to a woman who hears the voice of God and desires to know Him more, to seek Him and to be obedient to all she learns. Through this process, her life is transformed (in addition to her husband’s, children’s, and neighbor’s lives….and many others she encounters).I loved the honest account of Jean seeking a deeper understanding of walking in faith and then taking those first steps in faith. This included the first steps to being bold enough to talk about God to her neighbor, starting a Bible Study (even when not feeling fully adequate to do so), and praying for her husband and children to grow in their faith. She also describes the journey of how she came to understand and experience (the sometimes controversial) speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, healings, words of knowledge, miracles and more. I appreciated her genuine account of these experiences.Jean is an inspiration! She has a passion for God, a curiosity to know Him more, and she is obedient to do the things that are revealed to her. Each time Jean takes a step of faith, she is encouraged more by the things that God reveals to her. This fuels a deeper relationship with Christ who then is able to reveal even more things to her. Since this book covers only the first three years of her faith journey (which happened many years ago), I can’t wait for Jean Coleman’s second book on how God has continued to use her. She now has a global ministry and has taken many more steps of faith over the years. Surely, there are many more stories to be told!I was fortunate enough to receive a free electronic copy of this book that Jean had offered on the Christian Readers Discussion Group on the Goodreads.com website. I am so thankful to her for writing it and for the opportunity to enjoy reading it!
